Day 14 and 15 1/15/12-1/16/12

Today I thought that sense I update my Facebook status and I text a lot, that it connects with grammar because a lot of kids use text language were they don't spell out all their words. They then get in the habit to write school papers with it and get a lot of points deducted. Every time I text, read stuff on Facebook, or post on Facebook I feel the need to correct every one's grammar because it just makes people look stupid and it gets annoying.

Day 15; Random Day's
Through out the ILA we have gone to many field trips and done many things to demonstrate the things we have learned. A couple examples is that we walked to the Bark river which was exactly two miles away, we then go two gallons of water and walked back. That related to government because he was showing us how hard it is to walk two miles to the river and back carrying water. Another field trip we took was too the Delafield Water Treatment Facility where we learned were our sewage water comes from, how it's purified, and where it goes after. That taught us how much water we waste and how we take out water for granted.

Day 12 and Day 13 1/13/12-1/14/12

Today it snowed really bad and without our government, the roads wouldn't have been plowed. The government helps give us clean roads and to make sure their maintained and safe. If the roads weren't plowed then we wouldn't have been able to go to school, get to the store, people couldn't gone to work and back, and do any driving that they needed to.

Day 13
Today while working on my computer, I connected that sense everyday I use my computer all day long that it would be nice if the government would not track my computer. I learned that the government will use Google to track all the websites I visited, just to invade my privacy. Even if I go to Starbucks with my phone or my computer they will track it and will be able to send me emails knowing I was there.

Day 10 and Day 11 1/12/12-1/13/12

Today while I was sitting in lunch, Syd, one of the special kids, was waiting to talk in the microphone and tell every time that it was time to clean up. I made a connection to this because Syd reminded me of Lenny in the book Of Mice and Men.  Lenny always had an animal that would always make him happy, well everyday when Syd tells everyone to clean up, she always gets this huge smile on her face right after. So Lenny and Syd both had something that made them happy and they would do anything to either to tell everyone or get an animal to pet. When I got home after dance practice, I did the laundry for my mom and that connects to science because I added bleach to the load and in bleach, it changes from double bonds to a single bond. Then it alters optical properties of the molecule, which makes it colorless.

Day 11

Today I cooked dinner for the family, while I was cooking I had to cut up an onion, the onion relates to chemistry because when you cut an onion, you break cells, releasing it's contents. Amino acid sulfoxides form sulfenic acid and enzymes that kept separate become free and mix's with the acids that produce another chemical. This chemical reacts when it hits the tears in your eyes, which then creates that burning sensation everyone tries to avoid. My dad took me to help him plow all the snow we got, if it wasn't for our GPS we wouldn't have been able to three of my dad's new clients and we would have gotten lost. That relates to geography because without maps of places we could get lost driving on vacation, drving to a new friends house, or if a family member moved.

Day 8 and Day 9 1/10/12-1/11/11

Today, in math I corrected a different person's quiz with a pen. When you write with ink on paper, the ink and paper go together to make a chemical reaction so that you can't erase it. Some special inks allow a short period where you can erase some inks, but most inks dry and can't be erased; they have bounded with the paper. I got a detention in Study hall for sitting in the wrong seat. It dawned in me that it connected with government because there are rules you have to follow and if you don't you have to pay the consequences. In study hall when I was sitting in the wrong seat it was, I guess, against the rules so I had to pay the consequence with a 20 minuet detention. After school, I went to the gas station and bought a soda. It relates to government because I have to pay sales tax which goes to the government. Also after I'm done using the bottle I would have to recycle it.

Day 9

Today, while I was talking to my mom she corrected my grammar. It reminded me of all the things we were taught in English and how I need make sense while I talk. Also every time I write a paper or while I'm talking, I feel like I have to always add commas or I always think of where I can add them. When my dad pciked me up from Pom practice he explained to me how a car's engine relies on a chemical reaction which occurs between the gasoline and the Oxygen gas in the air. This is when heat is released and allows energy to be extracted from the chemicals in order to move the vehicles.

Day 7- 1/9/12

This morning, while walking to the bus stop, I watched two owls fly by hooting to each other and it reminded me how the Wisconsin Department of Natural Department of Resources are trying to figure out a way to save Wisconsin's animals. I washed my hands today and the soap reminded me of chemistry. Soap and water bond together to work properly and actually clean what you use it for. Lunch relates with chemistry because when our bodies digest the food we eat, the enzymes make chemical reactions that power our bodies. When you lift your arm, it requires your body to make and burn ATP using oxygen with carbon dioxide as one of the waste gases produced. Also, when the lunch people cook the food it evolves chemistry. When you cook and you heat and combined the compounds to make something new. Example,  when bread rises it's a chemical reaction where the yeast changes the food.

Day 5 and Day 6- 1/7/12- 1/8/12

  • Today, as I stated before, when I took a shower and it connected to government. People in other countries don't get enough water to watch their hygiene or to get clean enough water to be careful not to get sick form it. Americans feel the need to shower daily and they don't realize that it's wasting a lot of water. Yeah I understand why they would want to but they could go every other day. After, I walked to Alex's house then back to North Shore to get picked up by Matt. All the walking and the bags we carried reminded me of, like I said before, of the people in Africa who have to walk and carry 2 gallons of water two times daily. Earlier Saturday I had to clean out my room and our spare room. I moved a bunch of things form the basement and around my room. All the w
eight and all the walking and going up and down stairs reminded me of government and people from different countries. At Matt's I looked out his window and saw the sunset on the lake. It reminded me of art and how we are painting water color pictures of landscapes of Wisconsin.

Day 6- 1/8/12

All day Sunday I had a dance competition that reminded me of government by all the laws we have to go by during the competition and earlier in the ILA we learned a bunch of laws. I also connected it to English by the structure we need to get good scores and if it isn't right or off it doesn't make sense/look right. In a paragraph you need structure to make your paragraph make sense while you read it. On our way back from the competition we passed the Ice Age Trail and it connects with government because we learned about a week ago. Wisconsin's Department of Natural Resources is trying to conserve our animals, plants, and our habitats over the next 50 years.

Day 3 and 4- 1/5/12-1/4/12

1/5
Today I took a shower and to me it related to government like all the other water involving activities I did. Most teens or Americans feel gross and constantly have to shower daily but we never think that people in different countries don't have the opportunities of perfect hygiene like we do.
Also like yesterday's activity about walking from class to class, I thought of the same connection as for me walking to my bus stop every morning.

1/6
Everyday after school I go to dance practice. I thought that dance can relate to how you have to have structure for the dance to look right. For a paragraph, atom, and when you write a paragraph. You need structure to make any of those things.

Day 2- 1/4/12

Today after I used my make up I washed my hands and thought about how America uses water like nothing. We waste it while people in Africa or other countries don’t have enough or even get the chance to get clean, safe water. They don't/can't even worry about their hygiene, if the water's clean, or if they have clean cloths and that’s how a lot of them die.
Also, today for a couple of my class's I had to take notes for a test and English taught me how to take notes and to be short yet still use our grammar.
I walk a lot everyday from class to class and the amount we walk everyday between class's is technically the amount of trips that women would a day just to walk down to the river and back while carrying 2 gallons per trip.
We had to write a proposal for our final assessment in the ILA and in order for my to write it, I needed the knowledge I got form English on the structure for a paragraph.

Day 1- 1/3/12

Today we needed to write 3 paragraphs explaining differences and what best fits, so while listing a bunch of things and to write paragraphs you need structure and grammar that we learned in English.
For every time someone or I flush a toilet we use anywhere from 3-5 gallons of water, and it takes anywhere from 2 to 3 walks that the people in Africa have to take to even get that much water. When I drunk from my water bottle I thought of the video where "Nestle" is taking over a lot of towns and polluting them. Everyone drinks from water bottles, but they don't always recycle them. It then causes the oceans to be polluted and it starts to kill animals.
At most of the water fountains in Arrowhead has an irony taste, most students don't like the taste at all. I then recently found out that if the water tastes like that, then the water has been sitting in the pipes for to long and got and irony flavor from the pipes.
